AMC has passed on its half-hour scripted comedy pilot “We Hate Paul Revere.”

Set in colonial Boston, the single-camera satire written by and co-starring Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner revolved around two brothers who are struggling to fit in as the city braces for the drama of revolution.

Ron Livingston played Paul Revere. Scott Adsit and Olafur Darri Olafsson also starred.

AMC had been exploring the possibility of adding half-hour scripted projects to its schedule. But at a time when AMC is preparing to rebuild its schedule following the end of “Breaking Bad” and next spring’s departure of “Mad Men,” execs likely felt it was not the right time to expand into original comedies.

Beyond AMC’s specific challenge, the ad-supported cable business is under ratings pressure and financial pressure, which was a dominant topic of last week’s parade of third-quarter earnings releases from the major showbiz congloms.

Troy Miller exec produced “Paul Revere” with Sandler and Wenner.
