A man has tragically drowned at a popular beach in front of shocked beachgoers after desperate attempts by surf lifesavers and paramedics to save him.
Emergency services were called to Scarborough Beach in Perth's north-west at about 8.20am on Sunday after a 46-year-old male was pulled unconscious from the water.
Surf lifesavers administered CPR in an attempt to revive the swimmer while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
