YASSS, PRIMARK. A win for beauty diversity!
The high street brand posted a gorgeous photo of two models in bikinis on their social media this week. One is Symone Lu, who has a distinctive smile with a missing front tooth. The other is Lucy Knell, a babe showing off their latest swimwear collection.
Primark's Instagram followers had an overwhelmingly positive response to the beautiful shot, celebrating its inclusivity.
Primark customers were thrilled to see a woman like Symone in the campaign. One wrote: "Such an inspiration! I've felt so conscious of my teeth, just recently got braces due to gapping! She looks gorgeous... proud of her and Primark."
Another Instagram follower commented: "Good on her! Be yourself with no regrets, people will have opinions no matter what, you are all who matters, so love yourself."
Mothers were pleased to see the fashion brand setting a strong, positive example for young women. "Good to see Primark having real people as models so my kids don't grow up thinking they have to look a certain way," one said.
Grammers were also delighted to see model Lucy in a major swimwear campaign, with one writing: "Have a look at the other girl's abs! Totally different from those skinny girls we see in Brazilian campaigns, something out of our reality. I like it, Primark."
Obviously, because this is social media, there have been some nasty and disparaging comments from some users, but others have been quick to jump to Symone and Lucy's defence.
"Very pretty, ignore rude and ignorant people," one said. "Wow really guys? You don't need to look perfect or drop dead gorgeous to model for clothing. Be humble, everyone, life gets prettier," said another.
An awesome move from Primark.
