Srab Films, producer of Ladj Ly’s 2019 Cannes effort “Les Misérables,” which was picked up by Amazon Studios, has been acquired by Asacha Media Group (AMG).
AMG is a content studio based in Paris, France, which owns a number of production firms across Europe, including the U.K.-based Red Planet Pictures and France’s Kabo Family. Last year the company took a majority stake in production and distribution house WAG Entertainment.
Toufik Ayadi and Christophe Barral founded Srab Films in 2015. As well as “Les Misérables” they have produced Netflix drama “Street Flow” (“Banlieusards”), directed by Leïla Sy and Kery James, and “Saint Omer” from Alice Diop, which is set to premiere in Venice next month.
“We are delighted to welcome Srab Films to Asacha, which allows us to strengthen our pool of creatives with access to a new generation of authors and directors from cinema,” said Gaspard de Chavagnac and Marina Williams, co-CEOs of AMG. “With Christophe and Toufik we share the same ambition for the production of premium films and series and wish to support Srab Films in its future cinema projects as well as series intended for streaming platforms.”

Christophe Barral and Toufik Ayadi added: “We are proud of the confidence that Asacha has shown through this operation in our project to support new talent. Joining the Asacha group will be an opportunity for us to take on new challenges that we look forward to meeting while remaining faithful to the values that define our identity.”
