Is there honestly anything worse than discovering that new ring you bought has turned your finger green? Praise be for tarnish-free jewellery, especially when we're all washing our hands or using sanitiser every five minutes - and even more so when we're in and out of the pool on holiday.
As pretty as solid gold and silver jewellery is, it often comes with a hefty price tag that's unattainable to a lot of people, and, as much as we champion saving up for investment buys and designer must-haves, we don't think you should have to remortgage your house for a few sparkly accessories. Tarnish-free jewellery does what it says on the tin and can be worn in the shower or swimming pool, leaving your skin sans any stains, and is actually affordable.
What is tarnish-free jewelry made of?
D.Louise and Hey Harper both craft all of their pieces with a highly resistant and durable stainless steel that has a coating process named PVD - Physical Vapour Deposition - which is supposedly 10 times stronger than others.
PVD is a lot different to the coating process gold or silver-plated jewellery receives, and is totally life-resistant - so you can sweat, shower and spend your summer at the beach wearing pieces made from it without having to worry.
Plated jewellery is still tarnish-resistant, but it won't stay that way forever. While you absolutely can wear a gold-plated necklace in the shower more than a handful of times without it going brassy, eventually it will start to dull. If you're someone who literally never takes their jewellery off, even to switch it up, then PVD-coated or stainless steel pieces like the ones below are probably more suited to you.

Which jewelry does not tarnish?
Not all of the tarnish-free jewellery brands we've mentioned use the PVD method, but that doesn't mean they're any less long-wearing. We've tested most, so we would know, just look out for the pieces marked ‘GLAMOUR-Approved’ for reassurance.
